January in the 20th Ward: A Fresh Start and Community Momentum

January is a time to reset, reflect, and move forward with intention. As we welcome the new year, the 20th Ward office is focused on starting strong by creating space for connection, support, and community voice.
This month, we’re kicking things off with opportunities for residents to get involved, stay informed, and access resources that support everyday needs. From community conversations to direct services, our work in January is centered on preparation, progress, and showing up for one another as we set the tone for the year ahead.
As we move into 2026, we encourage residents to stay engaged, attend upcoming events, and remain connected to the Ward office. Whether you’re looking for support, information, or ways to participate, we’re excited to continue building together in the new year.

Senior Resources
The 20th Ward is committed to ensuring our senior residents feel supported, valued, and connected. Whether you’re seeking resources, activities, or opportunities to engage with the community, we’re here to help.
Health & Wellness
The City of Chicago offers a variety of health and wellness resources to support seniors in staying active and healthy. These include free or low-cost health screenings, fitness classes, mental health support, nutrition and meal programs, and assistance with managing chronic conditions.
Meal Services
The City of Chicago’s Home Delivered Meal (HDM) Program provides nutritious meals to eligible Chicago residents, 60 years of age and older, who are frail and/ or homebound because of illness, incapacitating disability, or are otherwise isolated. An in-home assessment is conducted by a case manager to determine eligibility for this program.
Transportation Assistance
Transportation is the critical link that assures access to vital services such as health care, social and nutritional services, family and friends, stores and jobs. The availability of transportation allows older adults to live independently in their communities and helps prevent isolation and premature nursing home placement.
Financial Support & Legal Aid
Professional attorneys are available to assist caregivers with various legal issues such as; Power of Attorney, Living Wills, Guardianship and other legal issues that caregivers are often faced with when assisting their older loved ones. Legal services are coordinated and provided by Legal Aid Chicago (LAC).
General Resources
Helpful programs, benefits, and information from across the City of Chicago — all in one place.
